Fun in the Sun

We had a couple days with fantastic weather this week.

Little Man loved having his bare toes in the grass.

I managed to get them to sit still for 2 seconds:

And we thoroughly enjoyed our recent Craigslist score (a dual jogging stroller for peanuts, I tell you!)

I hope your week was as wonderful as mine.

Bathroom Reveal

This has been a long time coming.  I have been toiling away and very slowly but surely getting all of the bathroom projects finished and I finally have something to share.

Let’s have a look at what my bathroom used to look like.

Drab paint.  Horrible wallpaper border.IMG_2105

Huge, clonking, ugly vanity mirror. P3270049

Wonderful gaping hole hidden by that towel (courtesy of previous owners – they hid it behind a towel, too).P3270052

You can see the cheap flooring here, too.  And T hard at work repairing the walls. P3280059

Removing the wall paper border wasn’t as difficult as I expected. P4020062

And now…  drum roll, please!

The curtains I made myself – and the hanging apparatus idea I stole from Funky Junk Interiors (scroll to the bottom of her post for her version). (I’ll try to get a better picture this evening, if I remember.)IMG_2100

The lovely new tile.

The warm paint color, new vanity and vanity mirror. (Notice the light above the mirror.  I got T to lower it within days of the initial installation.  I couldn’t handle it all the way up at the ceiling.) I know the cabinet lock is so stylish.  Just keeping it real.

I labored over this shower curtain.  It’s one of a kind, handmade with love – and it only cost me $5 in clearance kitchen towels and a handful of scrap fabrics.  (Thanks again to my mom for helping with the button holes.  My sewing machine was trying to eat the fabric.)

New artwork, new towel rods and new clearance hand towels.

The view is no longer the best thing about my bathroom…  though it’s not too shabby either.

My dad hasn’t had a chance to make me the shelving unit I want for above our toilet yet.  I’ll leave that wall blank in the meantime, but do have goodies to put on it already (I’ll take the clock and sign off of the vanity at that time, as well).

Our bathroom now has been infused with a bit of personality and we love it.

Rested, Rejuvenated and Recharged

It’s been a few weeks.  I was feeling overwhelmed with life, burnt out in the kitchen, drowning in projects and completely stressed with work.  I had to prioritize my life.

I’ve been spending my time enjoying my friends and family and just getting myself back in a good place.  I had an overnight getaway with T this weekend to cap it all off.  I don’t like feeling out of control and there is really no need for my letting myself get there in the first place.

So I’m back from my self imposed blogger vacation.  I have some reading to catch up on (I didn’t even allow myself to log into my reader!), but I doubt I’ll be able to go back and read everything I’ve missed.

And I’ll get back to the kitchen challenge soon as well. I figured since no one else was participating, it wasn’t a big deal for me to postpone the rest of it for a few weeks.

After a quick trip to the grocery store, I’ll be back later with my bathroom reveal – FINALLY!  It has been a very long time coming.
