Trash to Treasure

I’m so excited. 

When we arrived at my parents yesterday, my dad had a surprise for me in the back of his pickup.

This rather disgusting looking slab of wood used to be the meat counter years and years ago in my grandfather’s store.

This rather disgusting looking slab of wood is going to be getting some much needed love this week.

A bleaching.  Lots of sanding.  A waxing.  Then legs.

It almost sounds like a day at the spa.

She’ll soon be sitting here – to the left of my stove:

It’s a very badly needed workspace. 

I can’t wait to go get my hands dirty. (And it doesn’t involve paint.  Oh, happy day!)

Hope you all had a fabulous Easter.  Ours was a wonderful day filled with extended family and too much good food.

It’s Spring!

Mother Nature has not received the memo.

Momma’s Got a New Ride

We’re in town now – close to everything. 

I told T I’d be willing to run errands on bike this summer. 

Obviously, we needed a way for me to bring the kids along.

The trailer finally arrived yesterday.

Monkey loved it (Little Man was having his nap when T put it together and has yet to try it).

*cue Wicked Witch music*

We’ll be able to leave both vehicles parked much of the time (he mostly uses his motorcycle in the summer months – weather permitting, of course).  The kids and I don’t really go very far.  I think this is going to be a great thing.

(I love that I’m wearing my painting clothes – but had on nice jeans to run to the grocery store.  HA!  Real life, people.  Real life.)

PS –Yes, we have helmets.  This was an impromptu quick turn a few houses down to give it a try.  They’ll be finding their way into the kids cubbies by the door  in a few days  - when it’s warm enough to take them both out. 

In need of organization

Life has been…  crazy.  Yep.  There is no other way to put it.  But, we have been loving being near our families.  And the kids are eating up all of the extra attention. 

Unpacking all of our belongings made me realize one thing.  Ok, maybe two.  First, we have a lot of stuff.  (The two biggest culprits would be toys and crafting stuff – though T has quite a bit of hobby stuff too).  Second, I need to do something about the jumbled mess. 

I’m in need of quick projects.  Quick projects may not have a big impact on their own but they add up fast.

Today, I’m making a knitting needle roll to contain the jumbled mess I have tossed into a tote.  They’re nothing new.  Just new to me.  :)

Oooh…  the possibilities.  It gives me a great excuse to get out of my painting clothes for an hour and I won’t be so discouraged while trying to get scarves and hats knitted up for the kids for next winter!  Win/Win!
